Some suggestions for you vacation in Sorrento:

Beaches

The closest beach to Villa Serena is I Bagni della Regina Giovanna (The baths of Queen Joan).

Puolo's beachIt consists of a beautiful rocky beach close to where you can still admire the ruins of an ancient Roman villa, utilised by Pollio Felice for his summer vacations during the 1st century AD. To reach this piece of jagged coastline that overlooks the sea, you need to walk a short and quite easy trial which departs from Capo di Sorrento. The beach is not suitable for children but compensates by offering a crystal clear sea which is impossible to resist.

At a few distance from i bagni della Regina Giovanna, you find the beach of Solara. While you must pay an entrance fee, it is equipped with deck chairs and sun umbrellas.

The closest sandy beach, suitable for children and reached directly by car is the beach of Puolo. Formed in part by pebbles and in part by sand, the beach is a distance about 1.5 km from Villa Serena and is equipped with a beach establishment, paid parking, restaurant and bar.

SorrentoIf you like walking, you can reach the centre of Sorrento via a pleasurable walk of circa 20 minutes or instead take a bus whose stop is distanced 200metres from the villa. Sorrento is a medium to large city. On its principal street, Corso Italia, you find numerous shops, restaurants, night spots and bars. During your vacation in Sorrento, you must not miss a walk along the shops of the Corso and the close Vicolo San Cesareo (heart of craft area of the city). Better still, pause and enjoy a good Italian espresso or a hand made gelato in the bar of Piazza Tasso (the principal Piazza of Sorrento) and an Italian dinner in one of the many restaurants or pizzeria.

Sorrento boasts a fantastic gastronomy in every respect and is very famous for its gnocchi alla Sorrentina, ravioli, seafood spaghetti and pizza!

Its art and culture is no less than its gastronomy. Sorrento offers two museums: one dedicated to the art of the local inlaid woodwork, the Museo della Tarsia Lignea; and the Museo Correale di Terranova which is custodian of Neapolitan and European centuries old art, paintings, archeological finds of the area, inlaid furniture in the typical local craft, porcelain and much much more. Between the monuments, Sorrento also offers many diverse churches, such as the Cathedral of Sorrento, which is located along Corso Italia in the Romantic style of the 15th century, the Sedil Dominova and the Cloister of Saint Francis where every year a classical music concert and music festivals of every genre are held.
